A VPS (virtual private server) is a recent development that allows multiple independent servers to be created on a single physical server. Each VPS thus created is almost the same as dedicated server, hence it is also known as Virtual Dedicated Server.
The account owner feels as though his owns a dedicated server and is able to take full control of the VPS with root/administrator access, including access to the virtual hard disk, RAM and to reboot the private server independently.
